Rest In Peace Tom Davis

Tom Davis was one of the original writers for Saturday Night Live in 1975. He died at age 59 from throat cancer. I’m so depressed! It’s always sad when someone you admire dies. My mother bought me his 2009 memoir, which was hilarious. I haven’t read the books since I first bought it. So I decided to reread it this afternoon, I still LOVE this book!!! I enjoy learning all about the vintage days of Saturday Night Live. My favorite line from the book is by Al Franken who grew up with Tom and was his writing partner on the SNL days.

“If Helen Keller were alone in a forest, and she fell down, would she make a sound?”-Al Franken

That joke makes me laugh, that’s my kind of humor!  His book is actually pretty amazing. Tom talks about the birth of many famous sketches that are now classics. Classic sketches like the killer bees, the cone heads, Julia Child cuts her finger off, head wound harry, and many more that most people my age haven’t heard off. Tom Davis is a four-time Emmy winner, and I think he deserves each one.
